

Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Billy Joe was a man of many talents and deep devotion. He worked as a construction plumber by trade for many years for Buford Plumbing, providing for his family with dedication and skill. Beyond his profession, he was a former pastor with the Church of God of Prophecy in D’Lo and Picayune MS, where he faithfully served and ministered to others. He was also a gifted musician and songwriter, using his talents to uplift and inspire those around him.
Billy Joe was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Bailey; his daughters, Deidra Bailey, Catherine Black(Bo) and his beloved dog, Bentley, who brought him great joy and companionship.
He is survived by his sister, Sara Sellers of Vicksburg, Mississippi Brother in Law Lucky Groover (Sharon) and Robert Melton of Natchez, Mississippi.
Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Gladys Bounds Bailey; his brother, Jimmy Bailey; and his sisters, Patsy Beausolile and Bonita Purvis all of Vicksburg, MS. Father and Mother in Law, Edgar (Jack) and Isabella (Kate) Groover, Sisters in law Goldie Groover, Nancy Groover, Betty (Gerald) Blaney and Edna Melton all of Natchez, MS
Billy Joe will be remembered for his strong faith, kind heart, and musical talents. He longed to hear the words, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant,” and now he is finally home where he has longed to be for many years. While he will be deeply missed here, we find comfort in knowing he has finished his work on this earth and is now holding a place for us in Heaven.
