Brenda was born on January 5, 1958, to Ollie Carl “Charlie” and Elizabeth Kea Anderson. She was born and raised in Pearl, MS, where she became a loyal member of the community. Brenda graduated from Pearl High School in 1976 and dedicated much of her time to youth sports as a young adult and mother. She retired in 2016 after many years of dedicated service to the State of Mississippi, where she built not only a respected career but also lasting friendships.
Brenda was the heart of her family, whom she cherished and loved fiercely. Her favorite activities were cheering for her children and grandchildren from the stands, hosting memorable holiday gatherings, or simply being present for every big and small moment with her family. She was a caring grandmother and often sent text messages to her grandchildren “just checking in”. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
In addition to her role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law, Brenda was a pillar of her community. In the ’90s, she helped organize local youth baseball programs, where many athletes looked forward to seeing her at the fields during the season. She loved every aspect of baseball—the sound of bats cracking, cheering for great plays, and letting the umpires know how she felt about their calls! Brenda was a constant at local ballparks and soccer fields, where she was proud to watch her son coach and cheer for her grandchildren and many other athletes she considered her own. Her support was unwavering.
Brenda loved people, and her friendships were among her greatest treasures. She had a unique gift for making people feel seen and valued. She enjoyed lunch meetings and phone calls with her cherished friends.
Though we grieve her loss, we celebrate the incredible life she lived. Brenda leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, selflessness, and community that will continue to inspire her family and all who were blessed to know her.
Brenda is survived by her husband of nearly 46 years, Robert “Bobby” Stewart, who remained her companion and best friend throughout a life rich in love, laughter, and family; two sons, Jason Stewart (Courtney) and Carl Stewart (Nichole); two stepdaughters she embraced as her own, Bobbie Lynn Stewart and Misty Haley. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Easton Stewart, Kipp Stewart, Anders Stewart, Gunner Stewart, Seth Summerlin, Kaitlynn Summerlin, Maddie Hurtt, April Haley, Amber Bingel (John), and Ashley Haley; three great-grandchildren: Colter and Cormac Bingel, and Tatum Covey; and an extended family whom she loved dearly, along with many friends, players, and neighbors who were blessed by her presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Carl and Elizabeth Anderson, and her beloved brother, Ollie Carl “Bubba” Anderson, Jr.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Pearl Community Room, 2420 Old Brandon Rd., Pearl, MS 39208, on Sunday, June 22, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pearl High School Baseball Diamond Club in her honor.
Brenda’s memory will remain in the hearts of those she loved so fiercely.
