Dorothy was born June 17, 1932, in Madison, a daughter of the late Lonnie Kallen Gaughf and Julia Eley Gaughf. Most of her adult life she lived in Brandon. She served as office manager and accountant for the Rankin County Health Dept.
She was an active member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. The youth group of the church loved her dearly and called her “Aunt Dot”.
Dorothy truly loved people and you became a life-long friend upon meeting her.
In her free time she loved baseball, bunko, bingo and playing cards, especially with her family. She adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She enjoyed caring for the hummingbirds each year with a feeder, attending gospel singings, and never missed a chance to eat the foods she loved. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Jackson Generals Booster Club.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sons, Lewis and John Jones; and siblings, Jimmy, L.C. and Ann Gaughf, and Frances Anderson.
Survivors include children, Charles Jones and wife Kimberly, and Teresa Powers and husband Thomas; and grandchildren, Julia Patrick, Hunter Patrick, and Alyssa Powers.
