Dwight was born in Rankin County on July 7, 1955, a son of the late Oree Cross and Katherine Rawls Cross.
Dwight’s disability and the challenges he faced never slowed him down, and he lived life to the fullest. He loved “going to school”, as he affectionately referred to his time spent enjoying activities at Region 8. Always up for a trip, he was happy to ride along to the bank or grocery store to get his favorite A&W root beer. He made many friends while at Westhaven Residential, and the staff and residents appreciated his outgoing nature and visiting with him as he sat outside listening to music.
In addition to his parents Dwight was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Helen Windham; niece, Rocheryl Rawls; aunts, Geraldine Rawls, Mable Rawls, Ruthalene Howard, Lurlean Boone, and Esther Rawls Stapleton; and uncles, Louis Jefferson Rawls, and Lee Rawls.
Survivors include his cousin, Curtis Stapleton, and his wife, Catretia, who helped care for Dwight; and great-nieces, Tameka Rawls, and Jaterika Rawls.
Private Services will be held for Dwight.
