The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until 2:30pm on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. A graveside service only will be held at 3:00pm that same day in the Pocahontas Cemetery.
Faye was born January 10, 1930 in West Monroe, Louisiana to Virda Lee Stennett Evans Boothe and Lee Edwards Evans. Faye lived in many diverse locations with her mother and stepfather, Theodore Lesley Boothe. Faye graduated from Clinton High School where she was a cheerleader and named a class beauty. She trained as a nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital until she married and had her first child, where she had to leave nursing school behind. In 1967, she graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in Combined Sciences. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree from Ole Miss and continued her education just short of a Doctorate in Chemistry. She loved teaching high school students and was very proud of all the achievements her students accomplished. She taught at both Forest Hill and Jim Hill High School until a chronic illness forced her retirement after more than 25 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Warren Harrison Blake and her eldest daughter, Phyllis Ann.
Faye is survived by her daughters, Carol Blake Hockman of Pocahontas, Mississippi and Belinda “Lin” Blake Whittington (Kim) of Pike Road, Alabama. She was a proud and loving “G’Ma” to four grandsons, Kyle Blake Whittington (Ragan) of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; SSgt. Thomas Blake Hockman (Casandra) of El Paso, Texas; Ethan Reed Whittington (Katie) of Richmond, Virginia; and Matthew Stennett Hockman of Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Blake was also the very proud Great-Grandmother of Lila Blake and Warren Hayes Whittington of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; Brandon Blake Hockman and Brooklynn Madison and Laurynn Elizabeth Morris of El Paso, Texas; and Beringer Lee and Olsen Hodges Whittington of Richmond, Virginia.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Harrison and his nurse, Jerah in Jackson, Mississippi for their loving care and Dr. Edwin Dodd for her aid in providing relief from pain.
In Montgomery, Alabama we thank Dr. Peter Krothapalli, Dr. Roger Kemp and Dr. Bill Salisky. Your loving care was brief but very impactful.
