Sue was born in Water Valley, MS on August 4, 1943 to her late parents, Roy Lee Larson and Fannie Lou (Ward) Larson. She graduated from University of Mississippi and Memphis State University finishing with a Masters degree in Education. Sue raised her children in Greenwood, MS with her late husband, Bill (William Sr.)

She is survived by her loving children, William Elcan, Jr, Philip Elcan, and Katie Elcan, daughter-in-law Colleen Prince-Elcan (Philip), as well as her grandchildren, Adam Elcan, Hannah Elcan, Lucerro Chase-Wallace (William), and Holden Elcan. She is also survived by her brother Charles Larson.
