

He passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Beverly Sumrall White; and his parents, Morrison B. White and Eunice Etta “Jo” White of Iuka.
He leaves daughter, Sheri White Lynch of Decatur, GA; son, Anthony “Tony” White of Pearl; and granddaughter, Miranda Lynch of Portland, Oregon. Also surviving are siblings,Tom White of Iuka, James White of Starkville, Steve White of Florence, Morrison White of Pearl, and Edythe Bishop of Houston, TX.
Fred was born May 22, 1940 in Iuka, MS, and attended Iuka High School and University of Southern Mississippi.
He was employed as a pharmaceutical salesman for six years, and then enjoyed a long career with Shelter Insurance in Hattiesburg, and then in Jackson. Although he thoroughly enjoyed his career, Fred was a man who didn’t live to work; he worked to live. He enjoyed many hobbies. As an avid outdoors enthusiast, he could be found in the woods or on the water almost every weekend. He was also very involved in the community and served as a Flowood Alderman, as Director and Vice President of the Southern District for the Mississippi Wildlife Federation, and most recently served on the Lamar County Water Board. At home, he was a beekeeper, an accomplished woodworker and furniture maker, a winemaker, and was founder of The Armadillo Trap, which was recognized throughout the Southeast as the most effective trap for removing armadillos.
Friends and family will remember Fred for his colorful storytelling, his practical jokes, his love of world travel and his zest for life.
Prior to the 11:00 service, visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m.
