Helen Lucille Anderson was born “Helen Lucille Cannon” on September 30, 1937 in Neshoba
County to the late Frank and Verta Lee Cannon.
With the exception of legal documents and doctor’s records, she has always gone by her middle name “Lucille.” Many affectionally just called her “Cille.”
Cille often recalled her earlier days in Neshoba County where life was difficult growing up. When the family traveled to Philadelphia, it was almost an all-day journey in a horse-drawn wagon from their 3-room house in Bloomfield, MS. Her earlier days of hardships gave Cille an elevated appreciation for the things in life that many take for granted.
She graduated from Pearl High School in 1955. That same year Cille began her long career at WLBT-3. She started in the film department at the television station. Over the next 45 years Cille worked in numerous positions at WLBT. Most all her assignments were on the administrative side of the operations. She was affectionately called “Mama ‘Cille” at the station.
Cille was 18 years old when she received her salvation during a sermon by Rev. S.W. Valentine, while attending Southside Baptist Church. Cille and her late husband (Edward Searcy) were baptized on the same day!
Cille gave birth to two beautiful daughters (Terri in 1960 and Sharon in 1964). Both of her daughters graduated from Pearl High School. Terri gave birth to Jason in 1985, thus becoming Cille’s first grandchild. Sharon gave birth to Olivia in 1993.
Cille has been very active in the church since becoming a member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church. Cille met and married Mickey Anderson in 1994. The two of them have been very nurturing to their children, step-children, grands, and great grands!
Cille is preceded in death by her mother, Verta Lee, and her father, Frank Cannon, as well as her brother, Roger “Pete” Cannon, and her first husband, Edward. She is survived by her two daughters, Terri Duett (Mark) and Sharon Oswalt, her step children, Brian Anderson (fiancé Dawn Ferrari), and Leslie Hebert, (Paul), as well as her grandchildren, Jazon Jackson, Olivia Nieberg (Steven), Mac (Alexis), Corrie and Sara Hebert, Lukas and Ella Ferrari, and her great grands Claudia Michele Jackson, Jazney Karma Jackson, Jazon Edward Jackson, and Noah Nieberg.
