

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00pm, Monday, June 6, 2016, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:00am, Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Brandon, Boyce Thompson Campus. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
Jessie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Brandon where she taught Sunday school and volunteered in the church office for many years. She worked as a school bus driver and for Blue Cross/Blue Shield before retiring from the Methodist Hospital in Jackson where she served as an E.R. clerk. She was a member of Leavell Woods Chapter No. 342 O.E.S. and past Mother Advisor of the Forest Hill Assembly, Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Through her spirit of giving, Jessie supported and contributed to many charitable organizations.
A true Christian wife, mother, and grandmother, Jessie’s favorite times were spent with her family and friends, many of whom also called her “Mama”. The legacy she leaves her family is one of love, wisdom, and strength. Jessie lived the words of Proverbs 31 and her children arise up, and call her blessed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton L. Mayfield; son, E.L. Mayfield, Jr.; siblings, Laudell and Lyndell Beasley; granddaughter, Tammy Mayfield; and son-in-law, Clem Bright.
Survivors include sons, Butch Mayfield (Lisa) and Larry Mayfield (Donna); daughters, Nancy Bright, Jean Roberts (David), Roxanne Coulter, and Alice Faye Messer (Aaron); sister, Betty Hunt; daughter-in-law, Patsy Mayfield; sister-in-law, Juanita Skinner Sumner; 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
