

Services beginning at 9 a.m. Monday February 13, 2017 at Highland Baptist Church in Jackson, ending with inurnment in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens, in Pearl at 1:00 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Thelma Thomas, and his son, Julian 'Kavan' Thomas, Jr.
He is survived by one brother, Eugene Thomas (Marie) of Brandon. Other survivors include his wife of 37 years, Anita Hill Thomas. Children: Theresa Love(Robert) of Brandon, Mary Elizabeth Shay(Tim) of Montana, Katherine Kay Waddell of Clinton, Susan Dianne McKinley(Monty) of Summit, David M. Kehtel, Jr.(Renee) of Madison and Shirley Ruth Grissom(David) of Texas. Grandchildren: Adam Love(Blanca) and Whitney Love Lightsey(Ben), Heather Martin Zeilman(Vic), Shawn Martin(Danielle) and Tyler Martin, Melanie Waddell, Mac McKinley(Rachael), Michael McKinley(Ginger), and Ben McKinley (Shannon), Crystal Kehtel, Alissa Anne Garrett(Kris), Tina Marie Grissom, and Dana Elizabeth Grissom(Ian Schoonover). Great Grandchildren: Jessica Belen Love, Annslynn Marie Lightsey, Finn Lincoln Zeilman, Kaden, Journey and Tori Martin, Gaven, Nevaeh, and Rayne, Mac Dalton McKinley, Joseph Alan "Joey" and Abigail Rose "Abby"McKinley, and Nathan Elliott "Nate" and Katelyn Marie McKinley, Dalton Kristopher Garrett, John David Dear, and Lilian Ruth Schoonover(due in May 2017).
Julian was born in Lena, Mississippi on November 23, 1933 to Edmond Newman and Thelma Jefcoat Thomas. Julian Thomas graduated from St. Joseph High School and achieved an Associates Degree from Hinds Jr. College. He held the rank of Military Police in the 709th stationed in Germany 1954-57. Between High School and joining the service he worked with his father in the family owned business of Thomas Auto Repair, located in Jackson. Upon discharge from the Army, he resumed working in the family business.
