

Visitation is 5:00-8:00pm Monday, July 9, 2012 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 2:00pm Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Pearl with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born October 28, 1930 in Polkville, Mississippi, a son of the late Cowley Phillips and Effie Bell Gill Phillips. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pearl and the Pearl Masonic Lodge of Jackson. A retired veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in the Korean War. The owner of Phillips Printing and Office Supply, he retired and sold his business upon the birth of his first grandchild in order to spend more time with his family. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Ray, Dale and Frank Phillips.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nell Phillips; son, Rusty Phillips; daughter, Nelda Neal (John); brother, Wendell Phillips (Mary); sisters, Emma Faye Myers, Otense Frazier and Joyce Carr (Willie); sister-in-law and guardian angel, Linda Phillips; grandchildren, Jessica Hall, Tanner Phillips, Jake Neal and Grant Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, Pearl or the National Kidney Foundation.
