
Mary Alice was born on April 29, 1924 in Scott County, MS to the late Albert and Rosa Roberts. She received her education from Mississippi College and went on to teach school and work as a social worker for many years. She married the late Jack E. Smith in 1952 where they resided in Brandon, MS as longtime residents.Mary Alice was a strong Christian lady. She loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know through her kindness and actions. She was a life time member of First Baptist Church Brandon, MS where she served as a Sunday School teacher among many other capacities for many years. The Lord led her to start a Bible Study ministry with the residents of Coachlight Manor back in 1993. This ministry still goes on today, where many lives have been touched. Mary Alice loved family. She spent her entire life setting an example of Christ to her daughter, sons, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Roberts; mother, Rosa Roberts; and son, Mike Smith.
Survivors include daughter, Jaqueline Root (Jack); son, Jerry Smith (Susan); son, Sam Smith (Joyce); grandchildren, Lindy Root, Lara Ashley Coleman, Adam Holder, Adam Smith (Paige), Chad Smith (Lisa), Lee Smith, Jeff Smith (Nancy), and Jack Smith (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Bo, Smith, Jake, Tyler, J. Hatcher, and Mary Olive; and brother, Albert Roberts.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral service will take place at 2:00pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at First Baptist Church Brandon East Campus with interment to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the First Baptist Church Brandon Building Fund.
