Maudie Lee York

"Granny", as she was known by family and friends, was born in Oakland, Mississippi on May 8, 1934 to Clifton B. and Maggie L. Denley.

Our Granny loved her family and friends and in healthier days liked to play cards, fish, travel with her daughter, and garden. She enjoyed sitting and watching the birds, squirrels and other little critters scurrying around the trees. And she loved children, and help to raise several neighborhood children and grandchildren.

Granny was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton B. and Maggie L. Denley; brothers, Corky and Pete Denley; sister, Irene Pearson; husband, Clint York, Jr.; daughters, Margie L. Runnels and Sherry Homer; and son, Jerry York.

She is survived by her children, Hazel Cumberland and husband Keith, Harvey York and wife Syble, and Betty Smith and husband Jeffery Sutphin; 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in her memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.

A private family memorial will be held.
