

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Mr. Cannon was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Pearl, where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was also a charter member of both the John P. Byrd Masonic Lodge No. 629 of Pearl and the Pearl Chapter No. 384 O.E.S. He retired from University of Mississippi Medical Center after more than 20 years as the laundry manager.
Mr. Cannon was an avid sports fan. He played basketball and ran track during his years at Philadelphia High School and East Central Junior College. Later he coached church athletic teams. He was also a Golden Gloves Boxer, and enjoyed playing dominoes, bingo and ping pong.
Mr. Cannon will most be remembered for his infectious laugh and willingness to share a kind word with anyone he met.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bettye Cannon; sons, Bart Cannon (Karen) and Jeff Cannon (Dian); daughter, Cindy Poole; grandchildren, Keri Hunt (Dan), Beth Todd (Jonathan), Melissa Cannon, Jonathan Cannon, Stacey Green (Brett), Jeff Cannon, Jr. (Robin), Leslie Taylor (Heath), Adrienne Sloan (Jason), Zachary Cannon (Paige) and Megan Poole; and great-grandchildren, Abby Cannon, Simon Thomas, Austin Green, Alaina Green, Seraphina Sloan, Owen Taylor and Josephine Sloan.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Maver and Alice Cannon; mother and step-father, Geneva and Alvira Mendez; sisters, Kathleen Thomas and Joan Johnson; and son-in-law, Peter Poole.
The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Earl Fyke, Kaki Mangum, the staff of 3rd floor North at MS Baptist Medical Center, and the staff of Hospice Ministries for their wonderful care and support.
