under the compassionate care of his sister, Martha. Bob was born on March 18, 1947, in Magee,
Mississippi, to Burkett Ozell and Carrie Shows Jones. A member of a Navy family, Bob spent his
childhood in different cities across the US. After service, his family settled in Florence,
Mississippi, where Bob attended Florence High School. He was a member of the Beta Club and
well liked by his classmates. After graduation in 1965, Bob moved to the coast to work at Ingalls
Shipbuilding. In 1969, Bob joined the US Army, where he distinguished himself as a member of
the 8th Special Forces (Green Berets) unit serving in Panama. He was honorably discharged in
1975, and returned to work at Ingalls Shipbuilding for a few years. Bob then moved back to
Florence to be near family and began attending Hinds Community College on the GI Bill. Bob’s
natural ability, and desire for hands-on learning, led him to a job working for Control Systems
Inc. in Jackson. He worked for CSI until 2012. Bob was a quiet man, not much for small talk,
unless you started talking about motorcycles or cars, but when he got comfortable with you, he
had some great stories to share about being a paratrooper, working for CSI, and what new
projects he was working on. Bob spent his retirement, like he spent all his free time in life, watching movies and working hard for his family. Though Bob never married nor had children,
he was a faithful son, brother, uncle, and cousin. He enjoyed helping his family by working on
equipment, cars, and driveways, cutting trees and running tractors. He was always purchasing 3-
wheelers, 4-wheelers, and go-carts so multiple generations of his nieces and nephews would be
able to ride and enjoy engines like he did. Bob loved motorcycles and Fords, especially red ones,
and always had several in his garage. Bob showed his heart everyday in his actions. May his
giving nature continue to be an example to us all.
