Vernell worked at Industries for the Blind for a number of years before retiring. She enjoyed traveling with the Senior Citizens Group before falling ill.
She is survived by her niece, Jackie Fairchild (Pat); nephews, Bill Bagwell (Connie), Darrell Bagwell, Gary Bagwell (Linda), Ronnie Bagwell; great-niece, Courtney Fairchild; and Godchildren, Heather Buffington (Kevin) and Adrian Woods (Angie).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan Henderson.
The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, Tamiko Campbell, Takela Varnell, Diana Root, and Jane Eaves.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service will be held at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will take place following the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
