Wooley was born on October 16, 1956, in Florida, where his father was stationed in the Air Force. Not long after, the family made their way to Mississippi and eventually settled in Pearl, where he spent most of his younger years—and most of his life.
He was known for his sharp wit, no-nonsense attitude, and big heart, even if it was sometimes hidden behind a grumble or a joke. As his wife of 45 years, Teresa Shows, lovingly put it: “He was an old fart—but one we all loved dearly.”
Wooley was a devoted husband, father, and Granddad. He is survived by his wife Teresa Shows; son Aaron L. Shows (wife Sarah); daughter Felicia Shows; and his two grandchildren, Hannah May Shows and Scott “Alex”ander Shows. He also leaves behind two brothers, James Robert Shows and Martin Maurice Shows (wife Kim), and a large extended family of nieces and nephews who will miss him deeply and remember him often with a smile and a laugh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin V. Shows; his mother, Geraldine H. Shows; his sister, Wanda L. Shows; and his brother, Charles A. Shows.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi.
Wooley lived life his own way—quietly, loyally, and with just enough sass to keep things interesting. He was deeply loved, and his absence will be felt more than words can express.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity or to the American Lung Association or American Heart Association in his honor.
