Dr. Ebenezer Quarshie Blavo was born in Ghana to Margaret Ama Mamfio Quainoo and Archibald Steven Kwao Blavo. He was married to his beloved wife, Cynthia, for 52 years. Together, they built a beautiful family with their three children, Cyril, Dorothy, and Margaret, along with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also warmly embraced his in-laws, extended family, and dear friends as part of his family circle. He was a devoted and loving patriarch whose presence brought strength, wisdom, and joy to those around him.
He attended elementary and high school in Ghana before pursuing studies in Social Welfare at universities in Ghana, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. At the age of 66, he achieved the remarkable milestone of earning his PhD in Sociology. His distinguished career included serving as a university lecturer and later as a diplomat with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees across Africa and other countries. Service to humanity was at the heart of his life, and he dedicated his resources, time, and wisdom to uplifting others both personally and professionally.
Ebenezer was affectionately known for his friendliness, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed leadership in Boy Scouts, reading, cooking, playing soccer, boxing, athletics, music, dancing, and never missing an opportunity to celebrate life. Above all, his life was guided by his deep faith in God, which shaped his actions and relationships. His favorite expression, “To God be the Glory,” reflected the gratitude, humility, and faith with which he lived each day.
