Jerry Lee Terry was born on February 13, 1953 to Walter and Martha Goolsby Johnson. He was raised in Willis Texas where he learned the values of work, faith and responsibility at an early age. His experiences at home, school and church helped to shape his character and guided him throughout his life.
He attended Turner High School, and later, Willis High School where he graduated in 1971. He loved football which taught him determination, teamwork and discipline.
He dedicated his life to God at Toliver Memorial COGIC at an early age and later became a devoted member of Lily of the Valley COGIC where he served in the Transportation Dept. for several years, and served as President of the Usher Board.
He started his career at Coca-Cola Bottling Company shortly after graduating and remained there until retirement in 2010. He then served his community by working with the Fort Bend Independent School District in the transportation department.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Martha Johnson. Siblings: John Terry, Stella Hardaway and Walter E Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Sandra, daughter Pamela Shelton (Ron), stepchildren: Roderick Simon (Joanna), Crystal Davenport , and Jermaine Miller, grandchildren: Jackson, Gabby, Mia Shelton, and Lincoln Simon. Siblings: Darlene Johnson (James), Eva Johnson, Robert Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his church
Visitation will be held at Lily of the Valley Church of God in Christ, located at 13800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77045, on December 26, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location on December 26, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
The Committal Service will take place at Houston Memorial Gardens, 2426 Cullen Blvd, Pearland, TX 77581, on December 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm
