Naomi Juanita Edwards was born to the late Jerome Arthur and Hilda Jackson on July 8, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1975. She furthered her education by attending classes at Baltimore City
Community College. Naomi was a delight to know. She lived a vibrant and zestful life. She loved to celebrate with her family and friends. She loved to read suspense novels and was the queen of scrabble
and word search. She loved to watch crime and investigation shows; dramas and documentaries, especially about the British monarchy and American royalty (henceforth, The Kennedys). Naomi had a very diverse taste in music, but her passion was Prince and Michael Jackson. She enjoyed shopping, conversing on the phone, partaking in seafood cuisine, and spending a tremendous amount of quality time with her grandchildren. In her career, as in life, she successfully wore many hats. She
was no stranger to overcoming adversity. Despite losing her mother and maternal aunt at an early age, she persevered in life under the guidance of a special aunt (Aunt Thelma) and uncle (Uncle Raymond). Naomi cherished family and friendships. She carried an everlasting friendship for more than 40 plus years with Mary “Valerie” Scott and Karen Spence. Naomi retired from the State of Maryland Worker's Compensation Commission after 38 years of service. Concurrently, she maintained part-time employment with the Colonnade Inn in Baltimore for 30 years. Naomi relocated to Fresno, TX in 2020.
Naomi was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Arthur, mother, Hilda Jackson, one grandson, Nehemiah Bazemore, a special uncle, Raymond Smith, special aunt, Thelma Smith, and special cousin Shirley Brown. Left to cherish her life and legacy are her two daughters: Nichole Chyvonne Bazemore (Arnon) and Erika Yvonne Bennett (Justin); 5 grandchildren: Aiden Bennett, Brooklynn Berry, Noah
Bazemore, Cailynn Bennett and Ananiah Bazemore. Friends and family of Naomi will always be touched by her life and will miss her, but her loving memory will continue to live on forever!
