Patricia Ruth Hudson

She was married to her husband and best friend Donald Hudson of 50 years. They were united in Holy Matrimony in Houston, TX on October 30, 1972. To this union was born two beautiful daughters.

As a Christian, Patricia (Pat) had a strong faith in God and was a former member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. In Pat’s early years, she worked as a phlebotomist and a private duty nurse, caring for the elderly. She decided to leave the home healthcare field to dedicate her time, alongside her husband, to caring for their eldest daughter Sherita Hudson who was born with cerebral palsy.

Pat was the matriarch of her large family as the eldest sister. She was selfless, giving, courageous and a devoted mother. Her love, wisdom, caring heart and wit drew many people to her, enlarging her family. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to those in need. Her hobbies and interests included spending time with family, shopping, movies and great conversations with loved ones.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Oscar Sam and Marie Yola Sam, siblings John L. Sam, Joseph Sam, Jr and Gladys A. Teamer.

Pat is survived by her husband Donald Hudson; two daughters, Sherita Hudson and Creshall Byrd (Aaron); two stepdaughters Chandrika Millage and April Donaldson (Courtney); four sisters Priscilla Okafor (Johnson), Angela Mendoza (Joe), Shelia Spriggs (Dewayne), and Josie Pratt (Laurence); seven grandchildren, Gwendolyn Millage, Kendra Hewitt, Rodney Millage, Mahlon Phillips, Kingston Donaldson, Ta’Aryn Peavy and Lyric Peavy, and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
