He was born May 20, 1991 in Springfield to Donald G. and Lori Ann (McCabe) Fahnders.
Surviving are his mother, Lori Ann McCabe-Davison of Springfield; his father, Donald G. Fahnders of Pekin; one brother, Nicholas Fahnders of Park Ridge; and one sister, Shelby Fahnders of Pekin.
Alex was a 2009 graduate of Chatham Glenwood High School, where he was elected Student Council President and received multitudes of awards for his work on the GCNN Broadcasting Station, as well as the Glenwood speech team where he was Illinois Sectional Champion for Humorous Duet Acting (with Doug Sommer) in 2009.
In 2014, he graduated with honors (Dean's List and President's List) from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, where he was President of the Spirit Masters and a founding father of the Delta Colony of Phi Gamma Delta at WKU. He was a Hilltopper through and through, and was crowned WKU "Coming Home" (homecoming) King in 2013, a fitting tribute to his love of the university where "The Spirit Makes the Master."
Alex was a proponent of and worked with various youth programs in his career such as the Boys and Girls club as a Big Brother, The Gatton Academy at WKU, and most recently with the National Youth Advocate Program in Sycamore before returning to the airwaves and broadcasting field.
He loved all sports, especially the St Louis Cardinals and Miami Dolphins and served an internship with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014. He also loved spending time with family and friends and all the memories he made swimming on the Tremont Swim Team. He enjoyed the Dave Matthews Band, reading books, watching movies and was an avid viewer of television's "The Office" (with the ability to quote every episode by heart).
Alex was loved by all who met him and will be remembered for his many talents, witty personality and his enormous, caring heart. He had a gift of making everyone feel special, important, and loved.
His memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Boys & Girls Club of Pekin, 1101 Veerman Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
