

Born December 29, 1925 in Lynd, Minnesota to William W. and Bertha Freda (Frank) Patterson, he married Donna Jean Chitwood on April 29, 1946 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Dianne L. (Larry) Barker and Crystal J. "Cris" Koehlhoeffer, both of Pekin; five grandchildren, A. Kip (Jane) Patterson of Manito, Jennifer I. (Lance) Breeding of Middleburg, Florida, Aaron M. (Erin) Koehlhoeffer of Vernon Hills, Klint R. Flairty and Brooke A. Koehlhoeffer, both of Pekin; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl M. (Phyllis) Patterson of Farmington; one sister, Leoda "Tootie" (Harold "Bud") Hogbin of Mackinaw; and one brother-in-law, Darrell Chitwood of Pekin
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson (Brent L. Flairty), two brothers (James Patterson and William Patterson), and two sisters (Ethel Hopkins and Dorothy Stanton).
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served from March 17, 1944 to February 24, 1946.
Bud worked for Clark Oil and Refinery in Bartonville for 26 years, retiring in the early 1980's as a tankerman.
He was a former member of Teamsters and Chauffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria.
Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
