Barbara L Clemons

Born August 9, 1937 in Pekin to Henry and Grace (Brown) Oates, she married Ira Lee Clemons on February 21, 1955 in Enid, OK. He passed away on February 24, 2013 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by one son, Allen Scott Clemons; one daughter, Linda Clemons Norris and three brothers.

Surviving are one daughter, Janet Gamba of Pekin; six grandchildren, Mellissa Clemons of Peoria, Andrew Easden of Pekin, Corey Clemons of East Peoira, Taylor Norris of Albuquerque, NM, Ryan (Kayla) Clemons of Bloomington, IN and Brandon Clemons of East Peoria and four great-grandchildren, Kelsie Clemons, Corissa Clemons, Jaedon Clemons and Elygah Clemons.

Barbara worked as a care provider for the Illinois Department of Rehab Services for five years, retiring in April of 2012.

She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. An avid animal lover, she leaves behind her beloved dog, Maggie May.

She and her husband attended Normandale Reformed Church in Pekin and also had a special fondness for the South Side Mission in Peoria.

Her memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. David Craig will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial of her cremated remains will follow the service in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
