

Pekin ~ Belinda "Brenda" Pearl Baker, 75, of Pekin, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at her home. She was born on June 28, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter of Fred E. Nute and Rose Alice (Taylor) Nute. Brenda married Roy L. Baker on April 6, 1974, in Kansas City, Missouri. He survives.
She is also survived by her three children, Charles L. Baker of Pekin, Donna (Michael) Etter of Pekin and Christopher (Gina) Baker of Pekin; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Fred E. and Rose Alice Nute; two brothers, Leroy Nute and Roy Lee Nute; two sisters, Mary Alice Nute and Violet Marie Collins
She spent her time helping raise her grandchildren, singing karaoke, game nights playing dice and cards and the occasional slots. She loved to go fishing and would go any chance she was able to. She was a lover of all animals, but her favorites were wolves, owls and enjoyed feeding the local squirrels. She was a woman with a big heart and will be deeply missed.
Cremation has been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Brenda's family will be arranging a celebration of life gathering to take place at a later date. Details will be forthcoming.
