

Born November 27, 1937 in Peoria to Ray Herbert and Verna Mae (Hargan) Galbraith, he married Mary Elizabeth Deavers on January 11, 1969 in Hanna City. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Timothy (Jimelle) Dismang of Lowell, Arkansas, Christina Fay of Bloomington, and Marcia (Jack) Thomas of Peoria; daughter-in-law, Therese Dismang-Bivins; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Joan) Galbraith of Sun City, Arizona and William (Jody) Galbraith of Aurora, Colorado; one sister, Sue Logsdon of Beardstown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Raymond Dismang.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Ben served in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring January 1, 1993 with the rank of Interior Communications Electrician First Class.
Ben worked for Illinois Bell and later Ameritech in Peoria for over 25 years, retiring in 1993 as a systems installer. Following retirement, he worked at Welch's System in Peoria and later as a maintenance man at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin and Great Plains Orthopedics in Peoria.
He attended Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Ben enjoyed traveling and in past years enjoyed riding motorcycles and woodworking.
His funeral will be at Noon Monday, August 29, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. Pastor Karl Eckhoff will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Military rites will be accorded at the church. Cremation will follow the services.
