Betty J Springborn

MANITO ~ Betty J. Springborn, 68, of 5499 Three Seasons Road #B4, Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away at 11:59 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was formerly of Manito.

Born October 5, 1938 in Pekin to Lester and Matilda (Woll) Bernshausen, she married Gerald F. Springborn on May 25, 1963 in Topeka. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Greg (Val) Springborn of Groveland and Michael (Susan) Springborn of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Madison Springborn, Jason Springborn, both of San Antonio and Norah Springborn of Groveland; one brother, James (Helen) Bernshausen of Manito and one sister, Shirley Thomas of Osage Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Ward Alan Springborn on June 3, 1965.

She was a teacher in the Forman School District in Manito for many years. She then worked as a teacher's aide after giving up teaching. She last worked for Wal-Mart in Osage Beach for 6 years, retiring in 2006.

Betty was the founder of the Manito Historical Society. Her sons were the light of her life and she enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening and fishing.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday,December 29, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dwight E. Borden will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006at the funeral home. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
