Betty T Stumpf

Born March 18, 1934 in Vernon to Harold A. and Edna Isabelle (Herring) Thomas, she married Richard H. Stumpf on August 22, 1954 in Creve Coeur. He survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Diana B. (Lou) Shelton, Susanne I. Stumpf, Lynne A. (Pat) O'Neal, all of Pekin and Robin L. (Bruce) Everett of Spring Bay; eight grandchildren, Suzanne Everett, Elizabeth Everett, both of Spring Bay, Carson O'Neal, Donovan O'Neal, Josh Shelton, Stephanie (Brett) Gilbert, Brandon Everett, all of Pekin and Jolene Bennett of Peoria; one great-grandson, Braden Everett and one brother, Larry (Kathryn) Thomas of Sun City Center, Florida. She also leaves her beloved dog, Muggs.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Betty worked as the manager of Fabrific on North 8th Street in Pekin for several years, and then worked for SoFro in the Pekin Mall. She then worked for Pekin Public Schools District 108 at L.E. Starke Primary School first in the learning center and then as the school secretary for 13 years, retiring in 1989 when her first grandchild was born.

Betty was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle and a member and past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship. She formerly served the church as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and as a member of the church board. She also was proud to have been involved in establishing the library at the church.

She did crafts and sewing and enjoyed reading.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Michael K. Roberts, Rev. W. Lloyd Brock and Rev. Gabriel G. Salazar will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
