

Born October 27, 1940 in Centralia to Earl C. and Beulah (Dekalb) Hensley, he married Della E. Rauch on March 4, 1978 in Pekin. She died on December 5, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one stepson, Larry Rauch.
Surviving are one daughter, Daphine Brown of Pekin; two sons, Philip (Nickie) Hensley of Beardstown and Earl (Amy) Hensley of Creve Coeur; one step-daughter, Joy Ann Kepple of Rushville and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Burl was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1958 to 1960 as a radio communicator.
He worked at CPC International/Corn Product Plant in Pekin, then later as a boiler-turbine operator at ADM in Peoria for 27 years, retiring in 2010.
Burl was of the Christian faith.
He enjoyed building model trains, tinkering with electronics and working on vehicles.
His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025 at Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield. Pastor Troy Easley will officiate. Military Rites will be performed by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
