

Born April 18, 1935 in Mt. Pulaski to Beryl E. and Odessa J. (Wright) Griffin, he married Norma Faye Bennett on November 25, 1964 in Creve Coeur. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark (Angela) Bennett of Pekin and Mike Bennett of Spring Lake; two daughters, Teresa (Kevin) Humphreys and Carla Terry, both of Pekin; two granddaughters, Sara Holtke and Sarah Bennett; and six grandsons, Michael Bennett, Jeff Holtke, Chris Holtke, Tyler Bennett, Parker Bennett and Cody Pitman; and two great-grandchildren, Erin Bishop and Zebulon Bishop; and three sisters, Mary Jean Larimore of Petersburg, JoAnn (Robert) Berchtold of Green Valley and Janet Griffin of New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, John Oscar Griffin.
Carl served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force.
He was a power trucker for Caterpillar, Inc. in Mossville for 30 years.
He was a member of Pekin Bible Church, where he enjoyed serving as the grounds keeper for many years. He also was a former usher and Sunday School teacher for the boys and toddlers.
He loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed coin collecting and gardening.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Richard W. Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
