

Born November 30, 1924 in Appalachia, Virginia to Deadrick and Sally (Lipe) Lawson, he married Mary Katherine Justus on June 29, 1945 in Rogersville Tennessee. She died August 17, 2015 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Lawson; one grandson; Kenny Lawson; one great-grandson, Steven Riley; one sister and two brothers.
Surviving are five daughters, Donna Duthoo of Pekin, Lois (Reese) Gardner and Sally (Ken) Morgan, both of Canyon Lake, Texas, Cynthia Sahutski of Atlanta, Georgia and Rebecca (Terence) McAuliffe of Clarksvile, Maryland; three sons, Alan (Lynn) Lawson of Cornville, Arizona, Paul (Veronica) Lawson of Pekin and Owen (Terry) Lawson of Creve Coeur; twenty two grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Carl worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 39 years, retiring in 1988.
He loved planting gardens, fruit trees and flowers. Carl enjoyed being around people and talking about family and gardening. He also enjoyed listening to country music and clog dancing.
Carl was a member of the Living Church of God in Morton.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Irv Woelfle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
