Carol Ann Tjarks

Born July 28, 1946 in Peoria to Clarence and Minnie Mae (Simmons) Buck, she married Robert B. Tjarks on April 18, 1964 in East Peoria. He died December 23, 2005 in Pekin.

Surviving are her mother, Minnie Morrow of Mackinaw; her father of Pekin; three daughters, Lanae A. Dickson, Lisa G. (Allan Turney) Davis, both of Pekin and Lynda M. (Lisa) Salinas-Tjarks of Orlando, FL; one son, Robert J. “B.J.” (Danielle) Tjarks of Glasford; seven grandchildren, Zachery S. Dickson, Braelynn N. Davis, Madalynn A. Turney, Taven R. Tjarks, Addyson S.A. Tjarks, Greyson K. Tjarks and Taylor R. Shockley; two great-grandchildren, Cannon Richardson and Gianna Ozella; one brother, Michael (Brenda) Buck of Bartonville and one sister, Sandra Sims of Peoria.

Carol retired as the manager of the Speedway in Pekin.

Carol loved to play bingo and was a pillar of strength for her family. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and enjoyed painting, coloring and working puzzles. In earlier years, she loved to go fishing and camping. She also enjoyed crocheting.

She was of the Christian faith.

Her memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Hank Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
