Carol Ruth Parsons

PEKIN ~ Carol Ruth Parsons, 85, of Matthews, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September, 24, 2022. She was formerly of Pekin. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 5, 1937, to the late Walter and Mathylda Pieschke. Carol earned her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State. In 1966 she moved to Pekin, where she lived for 52 years. In 2018 she moved to Windsor Run in Matthews, North Carolina. Carol was married to Merrill for 64 years and was a faithful wife and mother who always put the needs and happiness of her family before her own. However, it wasn’t just her family she did this for. Carol’s life was dedicated to serving others. She taught God’s word to many generations. As a born again Christian, Carol gave to missionaries and helped do God’s work throughout the world. She worshipped weekly at Calvary Church in Charlotte. Carol is survived by her husband Merrill, sons Rick, Doug and Dave; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends. Carol is preceded in death by two sons, Dan and Dale. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Calvary Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where visitation will be one half hour prior. A private family burial will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
