

Born March 10, 1936 in Peoria to Henry W. and Ruby I. (Fletcher) Cvik, she married Gerald Lee “Jerry” Pemberton on July 2, 1955 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Deanna Lynn Pemberton of Green Valley; one son, Kurt (Amy) Pemberton of Henderson, Nevada; five grandchildren, Michael Meyers, Megan Meyers, both of Pekin, Hallie Pemberton, Hannah Pemberton and Emmie Pemberton, all of Henderson and one great-granddaughter, Layla Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Henry Cvik.
A 1954 graduate of Woodruff High School and 2 years at Brown’s School of Business, Catherine worked in customer service and as a credit representative for Central Illinois Light Company for 35 years, retiring in 1998.
Catherine was truly a loving and involved mother and grandmother. She rarely missed a volleyball tournament, concert, musical, recital, hockey or flag football game. Her family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. In turn, her grandchildren loved her dearly and always enjoyed doing puzzles, laughing and playing card games with grandma.
Outside of family life, Catherine had a zest for hobbies. She was an avid bowler, loved sewing, reading and her garden always bloomed beautifully with her care and attention.
Catherine was a past president of the CILCO Girl’s Club as well as secretary and participant in the CILCO Women’s Bowling League. She was a member of the Illinois Rifle and Gun Club and served as both room mother and Girl Scout Leader for her young children while attending McKinley Grade School.
She was a devoted member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin, where she served as a former treasurer and Vacation Bible School volunteer.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Judy Steger Kennedy will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.
