

PEKIN ~ Charles E. "Chuck" Schurman, 70, of Pekin, passed away at 9:45 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 at Pekin Hospital. Born March 3, 1941 in Pekin to Clarence and Della Mae (Null) Schurman, he married Linda Kingsboro on February 3, 1978 in Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his wife on January 9, 1989; his parents; 1 grandson; and 1 brother.
Surviving are 4 sons, Rick (Jennifer) Schurman of Green Valley, Mike (Shawna) Schurman and Timothy Norman, both of Pekin, and Thomas (Virginia) Norman of Kirksville, Missouri; 3 daughters, Paula Gardner, Esther Pollard, and Carol (Paul Burns) Swank, all of Pekin; 20 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Willard Schurman and Bob (Wanda) Schurman, both of Pekin and David (Wilma) Schurman of Eureka; and 3 sisters, Jane (Bill) Laslie and Glenna Sapp, both of Pekin, and Roberta (Howard) Durham of Oklahoma.
Chuck had worked for the Lange Animal Clinic in Pekin for 21 years, retiring in 1982. He had also worked at the Tazewell County Resource Center and at the Boys and Girls Club of Pekin, as an art instructor.
He was an artist, working in oils, water colors, and charcoal.
Chuck loved playing church league dart ball, watching equestrian events, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Chuck was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in rural Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Chuck Grogan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
