Born August 14, 1928 in Canton to James and Dale Rudolph (Harrison) May, she married Wilbert Joseph Taylor on December 10, 1947. He died March 27, 1997. She later married James Robert Ackerman on August 14, 2002 in Las Vegas. He died June 10, 2018. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather and one sister, Carol Beloit.
Surviving are one brother, Ira (Mary) May of Mississippi; two nephews, James May and Wes Ackerman and dear friends, Marcella Harms of Pekin, Dennis and Marty Sea of Cartersville, Georgia and Edie Taylor of Pekin, who was her caregiver the past four years. She also leaves several goddaughters.
A homemaker, Charlotte loved visiting residents in nursing homes and taking gifts to love on the residents.
She formerly attended Averyville Baptist Church.
Private graveside rites will be held in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
