

She was born July 29, 1950 in Pekin to George John Maile, II and Ruby Pauline (Christopher) Maile. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Stacy LaNette Tyler Johnson and one brother, George John Maile, III.
Surviving are two children, Stefanie (Chad) Mitchell and Tege (Savanna) Tyler; six grandchildren, Tyler Douglas Penovich, Zeik Tyler Hagan, Patience Noel Johnson, Georgia Jessie Mitchell, Ellie Mae Tyler and Emma Maile Tyler; one sister, Donna (Tony) Regguinti and many nieces and nephews.
Cherie worked at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria for 32 years as a nurse’s aide, retiring in 2018. She was the definition of a strong hardworking woman, was loved by her co-workers and patients and earned employee of the year not once but twice.
She was the most caring, selfless person you would ever meet. She made friends everywhere she went and would go out of her way to help others. Cherie loved live music and dancing. She lived for her children and grandchildren, who were her everything.
Her memorial visitation will be 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
While Cherie’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Stefanie and Tege invite you to a Celebration of Life Gathering at 5 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Marine Corps League, 13370 Garman Road in rural Pekin.
Memorials may be made to her family and will be donated in her honor to the Hopedale Betterment Association.
