Clara Elizabeth Bushnell

She was born March 5, 1931 in Mascoutah, Illinois to John and Amelia Carle.

Clara was married to Fred Bushnell from 1974 to 2013 when he passed away. She was previously married to Bruce Neill from 1949 to 1974.

Mrs. Bushnell is survived by her children; Brady (Shaine) Bushnell of Henry, IL, Roger (Teresa) Neill of Topeka, IL, Trish (Mike) Manley of East Peoria, IL, Danny Neill of Livingston, Montana, Marilyn (Wally) Miars of Charlotte, MI, Gene (Linda) Neill of South Beloit, IL; and step-children, Sonna (Mike) Bishop of Toulon, IL, Tim (Judy) Bushnell ofFountain Hills, AZ and Tammy Bushnell Saleem of Pekin, IL; as well as many dearly loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bushnell; parents, John and Amelia Carle; four brothers; two sisters; and one beloved grandson, Garrett Miars.

Clara worked a number of jobs in her lifetime, but primarily took pride in being a mother and homemaker. Clara enjoyed cooking homemade meals, baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, board games, BINGO, going to auctions, and collecting dolls/figurines.

Clara truly loved animals, especially dogs and cats. Throughout her lifetime, she owned too many pets to count. Perhaps Clara´s biggest love in life was spending time with her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her world. As long as she had family around, Clara was happy. Clara was a one of a kind, gentle soul who will eternally be missed by those closest to her.

Her graveside service will be at noon Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Forest City Cemetery in Forest City, Illinois. Following the service, a luncheon will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Hill-Palmer American Legion Post #561, 201 South Broadway Street in Manito, Illinois.

Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
