Daniel R Winchell, Sr.

EAST PEORIA ~ Daniel Robert Winchell, Sr., 72 of East Peoria passed away at 6:25 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born February 9, 1940 in Peoria to Robert and Mildred "Helen" (Smith) Winchell, he married Rebecca Franklin on June 13, 1985 in Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Bobby (Star) Winchell, Tony (Jinny) Winchell and Clinton (Stephanie) Winchell, all of East Peoria; four daughters, Angie Rogers of Ontario, Canada, Tonya (Todd) Ashley of Washington, Amanda (Josh) Brabson of East Peoria, Tabitha Winchell of East Peoria; he was PaPa to Jesse, Bailey, Andy, Abbigail, Addyson, Lily, Violet, Brendan and Tyler; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Kathy) Danley of Arkansas, William (Patsy) Danley of Sunnyland and four sisters, Donna (Lonnie) Waldrop of Arkansas, Judy (Harold) Cleveland of Decatur, Janine Tyson of Depue and Sue Bolen of Depue.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Dan had worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #34 for 34 years, retiring in 1999.

An avid Chicago Bears fan, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life service from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington.  Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate.  Burial of ashes will be at Springdale Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012.
