I have known Danny all of my life. I was always around him when I was little, and I will keep them memories with me forever. I know he will be sadly missed and never forgotton. He was a great guy with a loving soul. My prayers are with aunt Dora, aunt Dolly, and the children. I am very sorry for this loss you have had to suffer. We are always here for you. Uncle Danny was the best!!!

Dear Dora.  We were so sorry to hear about Danny's passing.  Brad and I (and my Father, Bill Johnson) are thinking of you in this sad time.  No doubt you were blessed to have each other.  Keep your chin up ... find the time to smile ... as you think of him often.

I don't remember exactly how we met Dora and Danny, but I do know it was shortly after we moved to Pekin and it was through our children - Intermediate school choir and/or Boy Scouts. Every time we say Danny he always smiling. I think that one of the best memories I have of Danny was a few years ago on Halloween. We were sitting outside handing out candy and could see a clown (complete with clown suit and make-up)walking down the sidewalk with a young girl. When they got closer we realized that the girl was Dana and the clown was Danny.  He was enjoying Trick or Treating as much as Dana.  Dora, Danielle, Dale, Dana and Dolly please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. 

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Danny's smile since I saw the obituary in Sunday's paper. Each time I saw Danny at Pekin Hardwood he always had a big smile and a warm greeting. I will always miss that!!I bought my laser engraver a short time  before he did and we always talked about them. I also remember the demo he put on for the woodworking club about turning duck calls. I could tell that he was a little nervous about working in front of the crowd but he was doing a good job. I started asking a couple of easy questions so that he would feel more at ease and interact with the crowd. He did relax a little after that and put on a great show!! Then he demonstrated the call itself and REALLY impressed the crowd. He put in a full effort with the volumne and we expected ducks to come in the door at any time. He was a tremendous artisan with wood and even a better personality. I intend to make a laser engraved plaque from the obituary photo and take it to the Woodworker's Shop for their wall. I have lost two friends at the store now, Jerry Butler, and now Danny. It will not be the same there, but I have the memory of Dannys smile to bring a little peace to the situation. You have my greatest sympathies and I have the hope that your pain will ease slightly in the coming months. I share a small part of this pain with you and will miss Danny, God Bless.

With each day that passes we see just how our friends have effected our lives. I had not seen Dan since our 10th Class Reunion but the things that we did during our school years and all the great memories will live for ever. I sure miss those days. I have known Danny since around 1980 when I first met him through our mutual interests in antique fishing tackle and game call collecting. He was a great guy, one who always put honesty and integrity first in all his dealings with others. I made a turkey call for him, and in turn he made a duck call for me, one that I shall always cherish. My condolences to Dora now, and my best wishes to her always for the future.

I'm so sorry to have read adout your recent loss. Please accept my condolences during this difficult time. Danny was a very giving and friendly guy whom always took the time to talk, or to just say hello. I thought alot of Danny and so did many, as evidensed by the huge crowd of people at the funeral home whom came to give their condolences. 

I will always remember Danny Golden as always bringing a smile to everyones face. Although he was not always in the best of moods, you always knew he meant well. I will always cherish the jewelry box and picture frame he made me, and I wish I could be there for the family right now.

You Will Be Missed Dearly~ May You Rest In Peace.

We met Danny, Dora, and the family when we moved into our home on North Fourth Street about 15 years ago.  Dora stopped by to bring me a soda pop as we carried boxes into the house.  Then she ever so diplomatically told me that the moving van was blocking her driveway! We quickly hit it off as neighbors and friends.  Dora introduced Danny to us, and it wasn't long before I'd see Danny standing in his garage working on a wood project or grilling something that smelled just wonderful. He'd frequently send one of the kids over with a plate of grilled mushrooms or some other delicious item he'd grilled up.  I've read the other tributes about Danny being an outgoing, gregarious guy, but with us, he was kind of quiet and very kind.  In his gentle way he'd greet us with a heartfelt hello or wave to us as he drove by our driveway.  Later Id' see him giving one of the kids a ride on the lawnmower or helping Dora prepare for one of their huge family cook-outs.  Whenever Danny was in the hospital, Dollie would stop by and give us an update on his condition.  When the Goldens moved to their home on Eighth St., I was glad that they'd found the home of their dreams, but sad that we wouldn't see each other so often anymore.  
     We're very sad that Danny has passed away.  I'm sure that Dora, Dollie, and the kids will have a tough time adjusting to his absence.  But I think Danny was the kind of guy that you know will be taken care of up in heaven.  I'm happy he's feeling 100% now, and I hope the family will find comfort in all their memories of Danny.

Words cannot express how sorry I was to hear of Danny's passing. I'm thinking of the family and wishing you hope in the midst of sorrow. and comfort in the midst of pain. May the memories of Danny sooth you in the difficult time and help you be at peace.

It's been about a year since I last talked to Danny..I moved about an hour away..and don't come to tan anymore.  I sure miss going by his office at the end of the hall at Golden Tan.  I'd always poke my head in to say see ya..or hey there!  What a sense of humor..what a nice guy.  I'll forever remember...C M DUX.  My love and prayers to you and the kids Dora. Dora and family, you are in our prayers. Danny was such a great person. He touched so many lives here in this world that he is truly Heavens gain. The Golden children should be so proud to have such a wonderful dad. Paul certainly enjoyed visiting with him when he would do his wood shopping and Trevor still is fascinated with the wooden top that Danny made his last summer. Heaven is having a good time with his laughter and smile.  


Danny was a great guy and a big contributor to the community. I knew Danny & his dad for many years back when they lived in Manito. He'll be deeply missed by all the organizations and people he helped over the years. Our prayer are with his family.

I don't know what to say because the Golden family already knows how I feel about Danny. He was really good to me and I will never forget that. I respect him and always looked up to him. Danny has been a great friend to me and we've had our share of serious talks and more laughs than I can count.  Our favorite inside joke was that we "need a nap".  He was one of the most generous people I have ever known-with his time and his heart and everything else.  He seemed to make friends wherever he went. I'm going to miss him.  I hope he gets a good nap up there.  :)  He deserves it. 

We met Danny and Dora during one of the happiest times of their lives, in Lamaze class for their first child.  We have continued this friendship for 18 years.  Whenever we stopped by Golden Tan we were greeted with a big smile and humerous conversation/stories.  To know Danny was to love him, such a kind, giving man.  Our loss is Heaven's gain.  Our love to Dora, Danielle, Dale, Dana and Dollie ~ Randy and Lori Wilson

Danny was always ready with a "hey" across the fence as he was grilling on his beloved grill(the salmon was awesome!). He was a generous neighbor to my parents and all our family. 
I smile to myself when I think of the first time I heard him practicing with on of his duck calls...I looked up to try and find the duck flying through the air. That's when my dad had told me it was Danny practicing his duck calls.
He is at peace now. He and dad are probably talking across the fence already. take care, Julie and family 

I am not sure if Danny was from Pekin or not. If he was, I probably went to school with him but never had the pleasure of knowing him then.

I just met Danny recently on March 11th, 2006. He attended the Winter Blues Fest. He was a happy, smiling blues fan.

He donated a huge amount of items to the River CIty Blues Society for fundraising at the show. What a kind gererous man he was.

He said the blues fest was the best time he ever had other that winning the lotto. 

All the area blues fans thank you Danny.

I hope there is some good blues to listen to wherever you are!
