Born April 21, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Paul Edgar and Ona Irene (West) Bloomquist, she married Loren Howard Rask on September 29, 1956 in Minneapolis. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kim Nelson and Kari (Frank) Lewis, both of Pekin; two grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Lewis and Jonathan (Linnea) Lewis, both of Pekin and nine great-grandchildren, Abigail Lewis, Chandler Lewis, Elliott Lewis, Eleanor Lewis, Patrick Lewis, Timothy Lewis, Katherine Lewis, Benjamin Lewis and Myles Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Evelyn Irene Nelson and one half-brother, Marc Oliver Masters.
Darlene was devoted to her family and was always grateful to be a wife, mother and homemaker. She was of the Christian faith and has been involved in the ministry of helping others at Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare in worship and service with her husband since 1998. They also have been a part of the Alzheimer’s support group at Pekin Hospital. Most of all, Darlene loved helping others.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steven M. Rowell, Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.
