

Born February 12, 1924 in Oreana to Lawrence E. and Golden (Koehler) Creekmur, he married Virginia Ann Wilber on June 15, 1943 in St. Louis. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley (Stu) Nack of East Peoria, Gloria (Gary) Smith of Morton; one son, Larry (Sharon) Creekmur of Pekin; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Mary) Creekmur of Warrensburg and Art Creekmur of Decatur; and three sisters, Fern Bellatti of Decatur, Mary (Clarence "Hap") Ethington of Oakland and Rosie Davis of Oreana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nadine and one brother, Lee.
Dale was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur for over 60 years. He had previously enjoyed serving as a deacon, a trustee and an usher.
He had served in the United States Army during World War II.
He had worked as an electrician for Caterpillar, Inc., retiring in 1982 after 37 years of service.
Dale loved going to church and fishing. He was a handyman, and also enjoyed helping anyone who needed it.
The family would like to thank the staff at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton for their outstanding care they provided over the last 5 ½ years.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor David Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to his church at 425 Rusche Ave. Creve Coeur, IL 61610 or to Apostolic Christian Restmor at 1500 Parkside Ave. Morton, IL 61550.
