Dear Scott....You were taken from us so quickly!  We will definitely miss your wonderful smile, terrific nature and trust that you had in children and wanting to help them in their education.  Your family always came first!  Kara, Aidan and Scott will grow to know that you have your arms around them at all times.  Dad and I and John and Rick and the other members of your family will all feel the same.......we will understand, one day!  We will be together!  We miss you terribly and love you forever. My family and I are extremely saddened by the loss of Scott.  Words cannot express how we feel.  Scott was excited about coming to Texas. He was looking forward to a vacation before he started his new job of principal.   We were lucky to spend his last few days with him and his family.  He was a great husband, father, educator and friend.  He will truly be missed.

Scott will live on in the funny stories & happy memories we all have of him.  We'll see Scott in Aidan & Tess as they grow up.  Everyone is hurting right now but Scott wouldn't want his family & friends to be sad.  He was much too positive a guy for that; positive, kind, helpful, generous & a joy to be around.  That was Scott.  His life held so many promises that now can't be fulfilled.  It seems so unfair that he was taken away in the prime of his life but thank God we had him for 34 years.

While we no longer live in central Illinois, we still grieve for the Wherry family from here in Nashville, TN.  Our families share a love of teaching and our life paths have intertwined on many fronts.  Though Scott's time with us was all too short, we know he left a lasting impact on the lives of many students and parents, as all good teachers do.  We believe that his legacy will live on through his own children and the many people from Algonquin that he influenced through his profession.  Our love goes out to all the Wherry's and Scott's friends.  We will be praying for you as you mourn.
