

Born February 15, 1917 in Lincoln to Dirk and Anna (Weiland) Oltman, Don married Dorothy Goretzke on February 14, 1942 in Peoria. She died December 4, 1981. He also was preceded by his parents; five brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia (Gordon) Mitchell of Creve Coeur; three sons, Donald (Carol) Oltman, Jr. of Pekin, Timothy (Lisa) Oltman of Pleasant Plains and Paul Michael Oltman of California; ten grandchildren, Shannon (Sean) Lavery, Brian (Daneen) Mitchell, Timothy A. (Heather) Oltman, Jr., Margaret (Ryan Melchin) Oltman, Paul J. (Caitlin) Oltman, Thomas Oltman, Kristen (Michael) Dinkel, and Jody (Jeff) Heffren; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Holmes and Justin (Jenifer) Holmes; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma (Dick) Bell of Pekin; and many nieces and nephews.
Don had attended the United Methodist Church in Peoria.
He worked as an office manager for Tumbleson Transfer and later for Advanced Trucking, both out of Bartonville.
Don loved to garden and especially enjoyed growing tomatoes and dahlias. He also was a life-long pinochle enthusiast.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. There will be no visitation.
