Doris Bowlby

Doris was born on May 6, 1927 in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy DeBoer.

A 1945 graduate of Pekin Community High School, she married the love of her life, Robert W. Bowlby on February 1, 1946.

Following WWII, Doris and Bob settled down in Pekin. Their joyful union of 63 years produced three sons, all of who survive her. From the eldest, Rod (Cathie) Bowlby of Edina, MN, Rick (David Cairns) Bowlby of Foster City, CA, to the youngest, Brett (Heather) Bowlby, of Lebanon, TN. She is survived by her extended family of six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. As a lifelong Christian, Dody deeply loved her Lord and family.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald DeBoer and great-granddaughter, Anna Marble.

Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Mission Hospice and Homecare of San Mateo, CA for the loving care and concern they provided our mom.

Her graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Lakeside Cemetery, Pekin, IL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
