Dorothy L Owens

PEORIA ~ Dorothy L. Owens, 71 of Peoria, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday October 14, 2014, at Independence Village in Peoria.

Born October 8, 1943 in Pontiac to John and Mary (Chism) Schultheis, she married Glenn May on June 2, 1961 in Steele, MO. She later married Myron Owens on March 11, 1976 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1992 in Peoria. Also preceding her are her father.

Surviving are her mother of Hanna City; five sons, John (Ronda) May of Peoria, AZ, Terry Owens and Michael Owens both of Dallas, GA, James and Lawrence (Trina) Owens, both of Peoria; three daughters, Debbie (Greg) Herberger of Canton, DeVon (Steve) Deckert of East Peoria, Robin May of Kenosha, WI; twenty-one grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one brother, James Schultheis of Hanna City.

Dorothy had worked for Heim Properties in Peoria for 20 years, retiring in 2011. She had also owned and operated D&D Ceramics in Peoria from 1984 until 1993.

She was of the Catholic faith.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed ceramics, bowling shopping and going to garage sales. She was a kind-hearted person that enjoyed helping people.

Her visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. There will be no service. Private burial will be at a later date.
