

Born April 18, 1926 in Washington to Thomas and Lena (Schuck) Burroughs, he married Lucille Marie Bruhn on August 30, 1947 in East Peoria. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2010 in Creve Coeur.
Also preceding him were his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Ken) Baker of East Peoria, Cindy (Ed) Harr of Marquette Heights; two sons, Steven (Rebecca) Burroughs and Dan (Alma) Burroughs, both of Creve Coeur; eleven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Dale (Fairy) Burroughs of Kingston Mines and Dean Burroughs of Pekin.
Earl had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 47 years, retiring in 1993 in Maintenance for the Paint Department. He had been in the Morton facility since its opening in 1958 where he was also a volunteer in the Caterpillar Fire Department.
A farmer at heart, Earl loved vegetable gardening, fishing and camping.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
