

Edith E. Bruder, 74, of Pekin, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Pekin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 30, 1940 in Havana, Illinois to Donald and Dorothy (VanDyke) Collins. Edith was raised by her grandparents, Donald R. and Mable Collins. She married Richard Bruder Sr. on November 23, 1956 in Havana. He survives.
She is also survived by five children, Debra Gregory of Marquette Heights, June (David) McCurdy, Tammie (Dennis) Conover both of Pekin, Richard (Penny) Bruder II of San Jose, and Roger (Joline) Bruder of East Peoria. Edith is survived by her beloved dog, “Maxine’. She has 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She is survived by five siblings, Terry (Margo) Collins of Springfield, Viola (Edward) Nutick, Karen Felton and Melody (Randy) Vogel all of Corpus Christi,Texas, Phillip Collins of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has one uncle, Edward Collins of Quincy, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents who raised her; one step grandmother, Nora Collins; one son in law, Gene Gregory; a brother and sister in law, Donald and Marylinda Collins and a nephew, Steve Collins.
She previously worked at Graham Hospital in Canton, Illinois and later worked at the Hallmark Nursing Center in Pekin for several years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pekin. Edith loved traveling, camping and spending time with her family.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Pekin. The Rev. Michael Roberts will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church on Saturday. Cremation rites will be accorded and her cremated remains will be inurned in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin at a later date. The Davison Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Easter Seals or the Children’s Hospital at OSF St. Francis.
