Edna H Randolph

Born December 14, 1922 in Putnam County, Tennessee to Edd and Oella (Matheney) Hammons, she married Cloyde Randolph December 21, 1941 in Crossville, Tennessee.  He died November 30, 1999 in Peoria.  Also preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Ronald on August 12, 2009; five brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis (Jim) Newcomb of East Peoria, Reba (Leo) Dutton of East Peoria; Janice (Jack) Burton of Leo, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Roberts of Kennesaw, Georgia; one brother, L.C. (Arvalene) Hammons of Fayetteville, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

Edna attended Cross Point Church in East Peoria.  She was formerly a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin where she had been active in many women's groups and as a Sunday school teacher.

She worked as a Realtor in the Pekin/Peoria area for 40 years, retiring in 2013 before turning 90.  Prior to that, she worked many years for Illinois Valley Glass.

Edna had taken great pride working as a “Calutron Girl” with the Manhattan Project at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee during World War II, at which time her husband served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre.  She grew up as an original homesteader in the Cumberland Homesteads in Tennessee.

She had been a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Peoria and Crossville.

Her funeral will be on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Mark Friday will officiate.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
