

PEKIN ~ Everett John Jibben, 71, of 3713 Sheridan Road, passed away at 5 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006 at his residence 4 ½ months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.Born October 18, 1935 in rural Green Valley to Everett Edwin and Mona Lee (Ketcham) Jibben, he married Charlotte Ellen Kumpf on August 6, 1961 in Pekin. She survives.Also surviving are his mother of Pekin; three sons, Steven (Monica) Jibben of Jacksonville, Nicholas (Tonya) Jibben of Peoria and Curtner (Jennifer) Jibben of rural Green Valley; one daughter, Pamela (Christopher) Schmick of Jasper, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren, Breanna Jibben of Mason, Ohio, Cassandra Jibben of Sterling, Skyelar Jibben, Alexis Jibben, Savannah Jibben, all of Jacksonville, Anika Jibben, Saige Jibben, Blaez Jibben, Sienna Jibben, all of Peoria, Makayla Jibben, Connor John Jibben, both of rural Green Valley, Spencer John Schmick and Addison Schmick, both of Jasper, Arkansas; his sister-in-law, Margaret (Ward) Musgrave of Pekin; one nephew, Ryan Musgrave of Morton and one niece, Kyla Musgrave of Round Lake. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Gertrude Kumpf of Pekin.His father preceded him in death.Everett served in the Army from 1961 to 1964.He worked as a barber in Minier, Green Valley and Pekin for many years. He also worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 12 years and Caterpillar, Inc. for 4 years. Everett last worked for Security Service in plant protection at Midwest Grain Products in Pekin, retiring in December 2003.Everett was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where he had served as a member of the Pastor-Parish committee.His children and grandchildren were so important to him and he especially enjoyed babysitting his grandchildren after retirement. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and an avid reader.His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Terry C. Edele and Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the U.S. Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554 or to the Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society, P.O.
